Saying a unit is hot is all well and good but let’s take a look at how players are using it. And as troops they are super easy to fit into a list by running you on average just 20 points more than a unit you were already taking. Even with the point bump to become Trueborn they are a relatively cheap unit that can put out super accurate and deadly firepower. Since they get to ignore all hit penalties they can shoot with their Dark Lance and still hit on 2s instead of 4s like regular warriors. Most of the time you will also find them in a Raider zipping around the table. Outside of shooting they don’t do much… then again with such strong shooting (getting BS 2+ is a real bonus) if they can get re-rolls on 1s it means they are likely going to just hit with everything they have. They have enough shots to hurt horde-style units and yet also have heavy enough shots to really put the hurt onto vehicles or heavy infantry/monsters.

This gives the unit very strong mid/close range firepower. This lets them take not only splinter rifles, but also a pair of Blasters, a Dark Lance, and a Phantasm Grenade Launcher. As a unit they have the same weapons options as basic Warriors. The simple answer to why Trueborn are good is simply that they are reliable. They have a similar load out and increased stats which makes them a great mid ranged shooting unit. The Trueborn are an upgraded version of the basic Kabalite Warriors. They normally act as the bodyguard or honor guard for an Archon, one of the leaders of a Kabal. Kabalite Trueborn are a “elite” troop Drukhari infantry unit. That changes today as we’re taking a look at one of the hottest units currently running around the tabletop: Kabalite Trueborn! The Unit We’ve spent a lot of time talking about armies that are hot or not and a lot less time looking at units that are running the show.

In the ever-shifting meta of 40K armies rise and fall.
